Nicole. 23. Licensed Psychology major. Lax artist. Part of the generation that watches TV shows online. Thinks British anything is simply brilliant. Believes in alternate timelines (with this one possibly being the darkest). Lives a Community-appreciation life. Slyly makes references to television shows in daily conversation. Duh-doy.

100 Portraits of Women and Men Between the Ages of 1 and 100

1 to 100 Years Project is an awesome portrait project by Belgian photographer Edouard Janssens in which he photographed 100 women and 100 men at each age between 1 and 100. His goal was to show the aging process in a positive manner and to provide an interesting visualization of the link between generations. He didn’t handpick the subjects either — all the participants volunteered through the project’s website (excluding the kids, of course).

Interestingly enough, Janssens himself appears in the project — his self-portrait can be seen at number 50 on the men’s side.

The photographs were also arranged into slideshow videos:

PHOTOGRAPHER MODELS SHELTER DOGS TO PROMOTE ADOPTION - “I love showing the amazing personalities these dogs have when they’re given the chance.”

Photographer Sylvia Elzafon from Dallas has been taking portraits of shelter dogs in order to encourage adoption. Here’s more from the Huffington Post:

I began my original shelter series in 2005, because I saw the need for a message. This message was: Why are you breeding animals, or buying animals, when so many of these wonderful, beautiful dogs and cats are dying in shelters every day? People were really beginning to acknowledge the need for education and action in the shelter world…My current headshot series brings attention to these incredible dogs in a different light. Instead of feeling sadness and despair, the overall reaction has been extremely positive. People are laughing — hard…

Hopefully these pictures will encourage people to consider shelter dogs first when they decide to add a dog to their families. Which one is your favorite? Click here for the full story, and click here to see more work from photographer Sylvia Elzafon.

London, 1940s, in hi-res color: These photographs were taken using Kodachrome film by Chalmers Butterfield, probably in 1949.

I would die to see London like this in person.

Toy solider-inspired photoshoot for Vogue Italy. <3

(my apologies to hipsterloli, who made the original post - I just wanted the photos to sit prettily and not shrink into those little gray boxes.)

Ooh I love these!
